Admissions for
Reception 2022
Headteacher Welcome
Welcome to Fairway Primary Academy and thank you for considering our school to start your child’s education.
Fairway Primary Academy is a one-form entry school and part of the University of Wolverhampton Multi Academy Trust. The wellbeing of our pupils is just as important as their academic success and our curriculum offer highlights this. We consider ourselves to be part of one big family; my staff know all the children, and this proves to be beneficial in supporting your child’s social, emotional and academic needs. We have a strong ethos and live by our core values of honesty, respect, creativity, spirit of adventure and perseverance.
The relationship between our parents/carers and the school is valuable in making your child’s time at Fairway successful. Weekly newsletters keep parents up to date as well as class emails for the more personal touch. We also have a very active PTA, where fundraising for the school is at the heart of the committee.
We do hope this page and our website enables you to see the wonderful things we do and are all about. However, if you would like to find out further information, please do not hesitate to make contact and we will gladly answer any questions. We have a 30 place Reception Class and provide a safe, high-quality play-based provision that provides all pupils with learning opportunities and a system of support needed to reach their potential.
At Fairway Primary Academy we strongly believe that the early years are vital in setting the foundations for school life. We understand the importance of practical learning experiences and strive to build upon a child's natural curiosity and equip them with the skills to develop an enquiring mind and a love of learning. We are committed to giving our children the best possible start to their school life, teaching them skills which ensure their well-being now and success in the future.
We are committed to providing a provision that promotes and builds confidence in communication skills to develop children’s thinking and problem-solving abilities.
We believe that every child is unique and should be treated as such. We pride ourselves on listening to children and those who care for them and using this information to personalise each child’s learning journey. We have a highly nurturing environment that promotes a child's independence through a play-based approach which is delivered alongside a sequence of targeted learning opportunities.
In Reception we are very lucky to have such a large open plan classroom. It is organised into five areas of learning and there are lots of different things to explore and play with. We enhance all areas of learning with “real life” maths, reading and writing activities. We aim to provide children learning opportunities in meaningful contexts.
Reading and stories form a huge part of our Reception provision. We read and share lots of stories. We read every day. We have lots of books and a lovely reading area.
We have a home corner, where you can play with your friends. We do lots of writing in the home corner – we write lists, recipes and take messages!
This year we are very lucky to have a newly built outdoor learning area linked to our Reception classroom, this enables children to have access to outside learning opportunities all day, every day – despite the weather. We have also had a new toilet pod built in the reception classroom.
