Who are Friends of Fairway – what is it all about?
Friends of Fairway is a registered charity run by a collection of parents and staff from the school who aim to raise funds for Fairway which will directly benefit all its pupils. With government funding at a record low, we know all schools are feeling the pinch. Through our fundraising events such as school disco’s, seasonal fairs and fun days – we help provide the school with the means to purchase new equipment, resources and anything else it needs to give all of Fairway’s children the best learning experiences possible.
We meet half termly as a core group of around 15 members to discuss recent events, and to plan for forthcoming events. Even though we have a core group, all parents, grandparents and carers are welcomed to help with and support with events and ideas.
Benefits this year so far…
This academic year so far, Friends of Fairway have funded the new playground murals and markings £2500. Reception class wrote us a lovely letter asking for a donation of £600 to allow them a new library full of amazing books, which we happily agreed, and excitingly, just last week we voted to purchase the school 15 new laptops and a state of the art charging station costing £4625. Our next funding project will be to raise enough money to replace the old, outdated whiteboards in every classroom – giving the staff and children the most amazing brand spanking new, LCD touchscreen boards. This is a massive cost - £7000 in total, but something that is desperately needed. If any parents know of, or work for, a company that does grants specifically to spend on technology, please please drop us an email at email@example.com
How can you help us?
You probably already do! Without the support of parents – buying disco tickets, coming along to our events and taking part in our competitions – we wouldn’t be able to raise these funds, so thank you to all of you. There are a number of ways you can help Friends of Fairway and the school. While it can sometimes seem school is asking for money every other week – rest assured every penny we make goes directly back into Fairway. Getting on board with our fundraising ideas and events makes the world of difference. If you are short on cash but have some spare time, we always welcome volunteers. Many hands make light works as the saying goes! If you would like to volunteer to help out at any of our events, please get in touch.
We are also always on the lookout for donations of books, pre-loved (working and in good condition) toys, teddy bears/soft toys and also empty gift bags. Next time you have a clear out please think of us – the office at Fairway will happily take any donations to pass to us.
