Pastoral
Information
At Fairway, we are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils and staff. We know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and at times, anyone may need additional emotional support. We take the view that positive mental health is everybody’s business and that we all have a role to play.
At our school we:
- help children to understand their emotions and feelings better
- help children feel comfortable sharing any concerns or worries
- help children socially to form and maintain relationships
- promote self-esteem and ensure children know that they count
- encourage children to be confident
- help children to develop emotional resilience and to manage setbacks
- support through our vision and values
- have two trained mental health first aiders, Mrs Ward and Mrs Gray
- have a trained ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) Mrs Farmer
- work closely with MHST (Mental Health Support Team) to help children and their families with developing understanding and strategies to manage their mental health, via 1:1 support, class workshops and assemblies, and parent workshops
- encourage children to support each other via the ‘Wellbeing Champions’ group
Please approach school if you have any concerns about your child’s mental health or wellbeing. This can include (but is not limited to) difficulties with worry or anxiety, panic, low mood, or sleep difficulties.
